Pink Salt Clay Ornament Recipe:

Ingredients:

1 cup Murray River Salt Pink Salt Flakes

2 cups all-purpose flour

3/4 cup water (you may need a little more)

Instructions:

1. In a large mixing bowl, blend the Murray River Pink Salt and flour. Gradually add water and knead until the mixture forms a smooth dough. Our pink salt not only adds a unique colour but also ensures that your ornaments have a touch of the Murray Darling Basin’s charm!
2. On a flat surface, roll out the dough to about 1/4 inch thickness. This is the perfect time to get the kids involved – let them feel the texture (bonus points for being all natural)
3. Press your child’s hand or your pet’s paw gently into the dough to create an imprint. Use cookie cutters to cut around the imprints or into festive shapes like stars, Christmas trees, or hearts – If you’re handy on the tools, you can also use some clay sculpting tools and carve shapes, pictures and quotes into your ornaments.
4. Preheat your oven to 100°C (212°F). Place your ornaments on a baking sheet lined with baking paper. IMPORTANT: If you’re planning to hang these beauties, don’t forget to poke a hole at the top using a straw or a skewer. Bake for 2-3 hours or until completely dry.
